Persuasive essay tips

The topic of emancipation seems to be the perfect one for the persuasive essay. Do you have your point of view on the issue? Do you want someone else to hear your position? Then you have to learn writing the persuasive essay. Only persuasive essay will teach you how to convince other people of your standpoint.

So, let us return to the topic of emancipation. If you want to discuss it in your work, first define your position. If I had to write such an essay, my position towards emancipation would be neutral. I am not strongly against it nor am I strongly for it.

Let me give you some explanations. Sure, I do not want to say that I do not like the rights that the modern women have. I am glad that women can vote, can hold the leading positions in various spheres of life, can be just independent and self-sufficient.

On the other hand, I do not get why women want to be stronger than men. Why do women want to prove that they do not need men? It seems to be so unnatural and irrational. I am sure that this is really against all the natural laws. At all times men and women were living together. Only together they can be a real power. If we consider the simplest example of a family with both typical parents, we will see that such a family is firm and really happy.

Thus, I cannot get some strong feminists. Why do you want to break the universal values? It would be better if you do something really useful.

When being assigned to write different types of essay, you have to learn how to sound persuasively, no matter what kind of essay you are working on. If you are interested in getting to know the main secrets of persuading people, this article is just for you. Following the tips given will help you write a brilliant persuasive essay.

Provide reasonable explanations to support your position. People tend to trust to evidences only. If you just state information dryly, nobody will ever be persuaded or able to accept your position. The data taken from different newspapers, journals and research papers can serve you as good evidences to support your point of view. You can also use the results of interviews with experts conducted as means of supporting your statement;

Choose the statements that are possible to prove. A thesis statement of your persuasive essay should be clear enough and possible to prove. Hardly have you got super-brains for proving something impossible to prove. Neither you will be able to take two tangos. Why should you beat your head out trying to support a statement that does not make any sense?

Supply your persuasive essay with quotations. Quotations, especially the set-expressions, make rather a persuasive effect on people. Just format a certain set-expression or any quotation according to the rules, and your persuasive essay will certainly sound persuasively enough.

To sound persuasively does not mean that you should obtrude your personal point of view. Just let your reader make a choice. And a reader will certainly choose your position.

I am sure that every student wants to know if his/her work has been done successfully. For instance, you have written a persuasive essay. Are not you interested whether it is effective and really persuasive? How can you find out the real results of your work?

I think that the best way to assess the success of your persuasive essay is the reaction of your peers. It is obvious that all the works trigger different reaction. According to it you can understand whether you have written a good persuasive essay or a kind of claptrap.

Thus, when you are presenting your work in the class, mind the next aspects:

Pay attention to the behavior of your peers. They can be listening attentively to you or listen to music in their headphones. They can be silent trying to understand every word of your work or they can be chatting with each other.

The questions that will be asked after the presentation can also tell you a lot. If there are no or a little questions, it is more likely that nothing significant or new was presented in your essay.

Still, the best indicator of your essay success is the situation in the class after the presentation. You can be just asked a few questions or the heated debates can start after the presentation. The latter situation is the most favorable for you. Even if you hear the critical comments, you can be sure that your work is really effective. It did not leave somebody from your peers indifferent.

So, this is how you can assess the success of your work.

If you have a chance to check your abilities to persuade people, writing a persuasive essay is just for you. You may choose any degree of complexity to check whether you are able to persuade people in anything or not and write your persuasive essay on it. So, what topics could be interesting to consider in your persuasive essay?

  • Persuade your reader that unidentified flying object exists. Do you not believe in it yourself? There are a huge number of different scientific sources saying that UFO was observed by usual people and, moreover, some of them contacted their representatives. Present day science can prove everything, including this. So, if you doubts about reliability of the sources, try to understand the principle according to which UFO is proved to exist, and make sure by yourself;
  • Persuade your reader in immorality of present day show-business. Present day pop-stars acted in clips fully-naked. Do you consider that modern show-business has rights to exist? Do you consider such clips can be shown to small children? If no, provide enough reasonable explanations. Be confident and do not be afraid to express your personal point of view on the problem you are considering;
  • Persuade your reader that Egyptians are the followers of Atlantes. Even Plutarch in his works mentioned about magic charms that Egyptians inherited from Atlantes. Besides, there were some similarities in appearances of both Egyptians and Atlantes that argues that Egyptians are the followers of the most ancient civilization – Atlantic civilization.

So, I guess these tips can really raise your reader’s interest. In order to check whether you managed to persuade your reader in your assumptions, read your persuasive essay to anyone. If he/she is convinced, your purpose is achieved.

Last year I had a really funny occurrence, which I used for my persuasive essay. What is the main purpose of the persuasive essay? Right, in your persuasive essay you learn to convince somebody of something.

This is exactly what happened to me. I had to convince my mom of making a completely crazy (form her standpoint) thing. I wanted to bring a snake to our house.

Well, the thing is my friend had to live for half a year and this snake was his pat. He asked me to take care of it while he is away. I agreed at once and told him “Wow! Sure I will take your snake. I will buy it mice and will add the water to its bowl”. As you can guess, I did not ask anybody from my household whether they want to see the snake or not.

The truth was revealed just in a few days before the snake had to arrive. My mom was shocked. She said “No, no, no. No snakes in my house. I cannot stand them, they are awesome”. You even cannot imagine what I had to tell my mom to convince her of the complete harmlessness of the snake.

This is what I told her:

The snake is actually rather small. It is not a 3 metre python that can eat a goat. It eats small mouse once in two weeks.

This snake is not poisonous. It looks like the most poisonous snake in the world, but in reality this one does not have teeth, which contain venom.

Finally, nobody is going to be bothered with this snake. It lives peacefully in its aquarium and never comes out. So, I guess in a week everybody will forget about its presence in our house.

So, finally, I managed to persuade my mom and she was not against the snake.
