In this article we are not going to talk about what the persuasive essay is. Your major goal is clear from the very name of this kind of essay. You have to persuade the reader of your point of view. Instead, we would like to talk about some ways of making your persuasive essay effective.

Persuading is not easy. Every person has his/her point of view on many problems, events and so on. To make somebody change his/her viewpoint you need to have a lot of evidences. However, not only the amount of evidences will influence the success of your persuasive essay. You can have 10 evidences, but they will not be sound. You may have several evidences, but they will be really strong and reasonable.

This is what you need to learn to write your persuasive essay effectively. You should know how to distinguish true and false information. You should be critical and skeptical, but not cynical.  So, let us think how you should give the evidences in your essay.

•    First, you should always do the cross-checking. It means you should not rely on one source of information. Especially, if you have some doubts on a certain statement, it is necessary to check this information in another source.
•    There are several questions that you should ask when checking the information. They are: who is the author; when and where the work was written; under what circumstances the work was written and so on. Such an analysis allows you to stay unbiased and critical when evaluating the evidences.
