Sometimes it happens that you read your persuasive essay and cannot understand what is wrong with it. It seems to be well-organized and rather interesting, but you feel that there is something unnatural in your persuasive essay.

I will tell you what makes you suspicious about your persuasive essay. It is the way your sentences are organized. Such sentences can be called unbalanced. Actually, there can be just one word or a small phrase that does not fit the general structure of the sentence, and it can spoil the whole sound.

I will give you an example:

I hate travelling by public transport and to walk

I hate travelling by public transport and walking

You see that the second sentence sounds more natural, and it is only a verb form that makes it so. The thing is that there is and that divides the sentence into two parts. It is essential that the both parts have the same verb forms.

Now I think you understand that such small details can make your essay easy to read or make it choppy. The best way to avoid unnatural sound of your essay is proofreading. You will notice some inaccuracies in the sentences and will be able to correct them.

It is also going to be useful if another person reads your work. An unbiased eye (or ear) will reveal unnatural sentences right away. You will definitely get a helpful advice on the necessary corrections that can be made.

Thus, you should take seriously such part of your work as proofreading.
